HOW TO APPLY

Applicants have the option to complete the scholarship application:

APPLICATION PROCESS:


1. Complete the online application form below or scan a completed pdf of your application (and any required documentation) to ajeanbattiescholarship@gmail.com
2. Attach any required supporting documents, such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and essays.
3. Submit your application by the specified deadline.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The following documents are required:

​

1. Completed application form in black or blue ink (if scanned an emailed or mailed in)

2. Official high school/college transcript

3. One letter of recommendation (from teacher, mentor, counselor employer, etc.). Note: Teacher recommendation is not needed after the student is in college.

4. Proof of College/University/Grad School/Trade or Technical School acceptance

 **FALL SEMESTER**

Applications must be received by June 30th of the current year for students attending a college or university


**STUDENTS ATTENDING A TRADE, VOCATIONAL OR TECHNICAL COLLEGE**

Applications must be received 4 weeks prior to the start of the program to for funding to be considered

If you are affiliated with any of the organizations listed below, you may qualify for a scholarship through our Affiliate Organization Scholarships program. Review the organization(s) listed below and contact the organization's leaders to express your interest in this scholarship program:

**Shining Star Scholarship:**


The Shining Star Scholarship is awarded based on the strength of your application. We invite you to showcase your achievements, goals, and aspirations through your application.

**Black History Essay Contest**


Each February, high school seniors from Sarasota and Manatee counties are invited to participate in the Black History Essay Contest. Participants and recipients of the essay contest may also be eligible for an additional A. Jean Battie scholarship.
