2018 recipients

Aliyah Cunningham

Aliyah Cunningham is a graduating senior of Riverview High School's class of 2018 who has completed the International Baccalaureate Program. I am an active member of Girl Scouts Triip #1015, my church youth group, YMCA Achievers, Chinese Enrichment Club, ASCEND Mentoring Group and a varsity track sprinter who has gone to compete at a highest state meet 3 times since freshman year. I was inducted into National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math National Honor Society), National English Honor Society, and have maintained a 4.7 cumulative GPA throughout high school. She plans on attending Yale University in the fall to study medicine and psychology. She has aspirations to become a psychiatrist with simultaneously doing lab research to help geriatric patients suffering from dementia and other mental degenerative diseases.

Deric Dubose

Deric Dubose is a high school senior currently attending Sarasota High School. He has been a part of the varsity football team there all four years, and was a member of the all-area team in the 2016-17 season. In college, Deric plans on continuing his football career and looks to major in pre-med so he can study to become a dentist after graduation. Outside of school and sports, Deric enjoys reading and art and regularly uses software such as Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator to produce his artistic creations.

Kenya Woodard

Kenya Woodard is a child of God. Her parents are Tom & Cheryl Woodard. She is the president of the Sarasota County NAACP Youth Council. a member of Sarasota Y-Achievers, and a host of other clubs in the community, school, and church. After graduation, she will be attending Florida International University where she will complete my degree in biomedical sciences with a minor in dermatology. Her career goal is to become a pediatrician that that specializes in dermatology. She plans to find the cure for eczema and opening her own practice in the community for minorities and the underserved. Her favorite scripture is from Philippians 4:13.
